A first-of-its-kind lab share event organized through the Cardinal Green Lab program brought lab occupants from across campus together in an effort to reduce waste and promote reuse in the lab community. A partnership among the Office of Sustainability, Property Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and Peninsula Sanitary Service, Inc., the event welcomed people to donate new or gently used lab equipment that they no longer needed and acquire useful equipment that others had donated at no cost.

The inaugural event was a big success. Attendees donated more than a ton of quality items that others were able to use in their own labs, thus diverting them from the landfill. More than 100 labs participated, and groups saved an estimated $100,000 in research funding by taking items donated by other labs.
