Former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior and Woods Consulting Professor David Hayes (Distinguished Visiting Professor, Law) organized a panel of climate change, energy, and governance experts that included veterans from the Obama, Bush, Clinton, and Reagan administrations to discuss and identify key climate and energy policies that the next U.S. president could either execute unilaterally or use to attract bipartisan support. The discussions ranged from limiting carbon emissions through economic incentives to increasing investments in clean energy, such as solar and wind power. One of the major takeaways was to promote U.S. competition, innovation, and job creation to tackle the climate change challenge.

The event was a highlight of the Climate Change Implementation Project Conference Series. It was sponsored by the Stanford Woods Institute and Stanford Law School, in partnership with the Precourt Institute for Energy, and the Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences, with the support of the Hewlett Foundation. Presentations from the event are available on video.
