Stanford University had a strong presence at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education Conference in Minneapolis in 2015. Fahmida Ahmed, director of Stanford’s Office of Sustainability, chaired the organization’s board of directors from 2015 to 2016 and played a leading role throughout the conference, including speaking at the opening ceremony and other main events.

Stanford staff also highlighted the university’s latest programs and innovations in sustainability during multiple presentations and poster sessions. Representatives facilitated workshops on energy benchmarking and the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) tool; the university has earned Gold ratings for its past three STARS submissions. Additional presentations and posters focused on effective waste reduction communications, campus plug load inventorying, design for scalability, and the Green Event and Green Office programs.
