The spectrum of Stanford\u2019s awards and commendations highlights the multifaceted nature of sustainability and spans a wide range of topics. Presented below are selections of the most significant campus sustainability initiatives to receive formal recognition.<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Third-Party Evaluations of Sustainable Stanford<\/h2>\n<h4>Gold Rating, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education&#8217;s (AASHE&#8217;s) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment &amp;\u00a0Rating System (STARS)<\/h4>\n<p>Stanford earned a Gold rating from AASHE\u2019s latest version (2.0) of its assessment and national rating system. Stanford\u2019s score in 2016 increased six percentage points to 81%, which is the second highest score earned to date of the nearly 800 institutions that participate in STARS. Of those, a total of 96 institutions have achieved a Gold rating.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/stars.aashe.org\/institutions\/stanford-university-ca\/report\/2016-06-29\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read More \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>#5 Ranking, &#8220;Cool Schools&#8221;<\/h4>\n<p>Stanford placed number five on <em>Sierra<\/em> magazine&#8217;s \u201cCool Schools\u201d list, out of more than 200 institutions evaluated in 2016. The GEELA is California&#8217;s highest environmental honor.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/2016\/snapshots\/sesi-receives-governors-award-for-climate-leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read More \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>2016 Global Best Projects Award, Engineering News-Record<\/h4>\n<p>SESI was one of 23 projects from 15 different countries and five continents to win 2016 Global Best Projects awards, which identify and honor the project teams behind outstanding design and construction efforts. SESI won the \u201cGreen Project\u201d category.
