California Governor Jerry Brown joined a wide range of water experts at Stanford for a discussion of policy prescriptions and new research on improving water management, hosted by the Hamilton Project at Brookings and the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. Panelists at the October talks, including Stanford Woods Institute Co-Director and Senior Fellow Buzz Thompson, outlined ways to achieve realistic water pricing, infrastructure financing, consistent regulation, technological innovation, and improved conservation.

Panelists all agreed that action is imperative to address water management issues. “Water is going to be the critical resource issue of the 21st Century,” said Thompson, the Robert E. Paradise Professor in Natural Resources Law.
