World-renowned underwater explorer, scientist, and ocean advocate Sylvia Earle addressed the campus community on May 7 in the third annual Stephen H. Schneider Memorial Lecture. Earle encouraged attendees to support healthy oceans by being passionate about their work, regardless of the field.

The lecture is hosted in honor of the Stanford professor, Stanford Woods Institute senior fellow, and world-renowned climate scientist who died in 2010. It is organized by Students for a Sustainable Stanford, the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, Stanford in Government, the Center for Ocean Solutions, the Green Alliance for Innovative Action, and the Haas Center for Public Service.
