The Department of Energy’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford is a partner in CalCharge, a new public-private partnership with the goal of increased collaboration and innovation in the development of battery technology and energy storage. CalCharge includes more than 15 companies working to expand the energy storage market. Because of the partnership with SLAC and other academic institutions, the companies will not have to negotiate independent cooperative research and development agreements, instead being able to expedite the approval of project proposals.

In addition to providing for accelerated research timelines, this partnership also allows CalCharge member groups access to some of the leading technical research facilities in the country, with the hope of achieving innovations in battery technology that stand to impact a multitude of industries across the energy and sustainability sectors.
