For the third year in a row, Stanford is on the Princeton Review’s Green Honor Roll, which lists universities that achieve the highest score—99—in the review’s annual green rating of 804 institutions. The review includes this information in its print and online college selection guides. Stanford also ranked fourth in BestColleges.com Greenest Universities ranking.

Both rankings are based on 2014 data reported through the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. The Princeton Review’s rating system highlights Stanford’s commitment to climate change mitigation and water use reduction through Stanford Energy System Innovations. It also recognizes Stanford’s recycling program and the many sustainable transportation programs that contribute to the university’s high alternative-commute rate.
