Building on the success of its first year, the Innovation Transfer Program at the TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy supported 11 new projects seeking to commercialize transformative sustainable energy solutions. The Innovation Transfer grants are intended to bridge the gap between government support for scientific research and private-sector investment in clean energy technologies. They enable teams to develop prototypes, refine business plans, and perform market trials. The program also connects Stanford innovators to an extensive cleantech network that includes external mentors, industry experts, and investors. Since its launch in 2013, the program has awarded over $1.6 million in grants to 18 teams consisting of 50 Stanford students and alumni and 14 faculty advisors.
