To celebrate Stanford’s 125th anniversary, the Office of Sustainability partnered with departments and organizations across campus to host Knowledge to Action, a series of premier sustainability events, on April 19. The events showcased Stanford’s interdisciplinary efforts to solve the world’s environmental problems, emphasizing the breadth and depth of campus community engagement in both local and global sustainability efforts.

The Office of Sustainability and its partners kicked off the day with the Celebrating Sustainability fair in Ford Plaza. Open to staff, faculty, and students, the festive event offered activities, demonstrations, entertainment, and lunch to all those wishing to learn more about sustainability at Stanford. Next, the Connecting the Dots symposium examined the latest research at the intersection of energy, food, water, and their impact on human health and the environment. The day concluded with an evening reception at the Central Energy Facility, where guests enjoyed live music, sustainable food, and tours of the energy facility and nearby educational farm.

Knowledge to Action’s key sponsors were Sustainable Stanford, the Precourt Institute for Energy, the TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy, the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences, the Woods Institute for the Environment, and Residential & Dining Enterprises.
