Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) Student Housing’s Delta Delta Delta sorority house became the first residence at Stanford to use 100% green cleaning methods. All of the chemicals in the house were replaced with a single product, Tersano, created by infusing water with ozone. The product is just as effective as traditional cleaners and can be used on everything from windows to carpet to toilets. Both students and custodians responded positively to the change and reported on the effectiveness of the product through a survey conducted in partnership with Students for a Sustainable Stanford. R&DE Student Housing has also purchased the new system for its latest residence, opening in fall 2015 in the Manzanita Park complex, and additional rollouts are under consideration. Not only is the product good for the environment and occupant health, but it offers significant financial savings by eliminating chemical purchases.
