Student-Led Career Panel Promotes Ocean-Related Careers

Stanford Oceans Group, a student organization, brought attention to the vast opportunities for ocean-related science careers during a speaker panel on May 11. Students gathered at Old Union to hear about the career paths of five industry professionals working and/or studying at Stanford. Sarah Reiter, Ashley Erickson, Cassandra Brooks, Dan Reineman, and Kristen Weiss reflected on how their backgrounds in law, policy, education, communications, and research led them to positions in organizations such as Stanford’s Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources and the Center for Ocean Solutions.

The panel was held over dinner during the first half of the event, and the second half offered time for attendees to network with each other and the speakers. Stanford Oceans Group plans to offer similar events to the campus community throughout the coming year.
