The sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. (AKA) hosted their second annual sustainable barbeque on May 25 to raise awareness and engagement around sustainability in the Black Greek community. This year’s event, Fresh on the Farm, showcased Stanford’s sustainability initiatives and ways Greek organizations can get involved. Attendees enjoyed vegetarian food and learned more about sustainability through informational signage, interactive games, and upcycled craft activities. AKA also partnered with the Office of Sustainability to make the BBQ a Cardinal Green event, so that Greek leaders could see the different ways that their own organizations can reduce the impact of their events.

Fresh on the Farm was co-sponsored by Students for a Sustainable Stanford, Stanford’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Stanford People for Animal Welfare, and the Office of Sustainability.
